by: Nikki Gronli
LEAD recently hosted Superintendent of the Sioux Falls School District Dr. Brian Maher for a voter education event. We had a great conversation on the need, the usage projections looking forward, and the impact on taxpayers.
Some important takeaways:
- There are some great resources available to help you with your voting decision
- Early voting is underway, you can vote before Sept. 18
Resources:
If you’d like to see the Powerpoint presentation the attendees were presented with CLICK HERE.
Some of the slides I found most interesting were the Enrollment projection slide (5), Facilities Facts (7) and Task Force Recommendations (13).
There is also an interview with Dr. Maher available. CLICK HERE to view.
If you’d like to see how the bond would affect your taxes, the school district has made a calculator available at on this page: CLICK HERE Click on the “Bond Calculator, ” download the file and follow the information. Note: Assessed value is different from the appraised value. There is a good description of each HERE.
